Medical Director / Veterinarian Dr. Nagar Brar
Dr. Brar is a 2002 veterinary graduate from College Of Veterinary Science Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana, India. Dr. Brar has been working for over ten years in the Chicagoland area. The past seven years he has been working at McHenry Pet Hospital in McHenry, Illinois. Dr. Brar started working full time at Gilmer Road Animal Hospital in January 2017.
Dr. Brar grew up in a small village in India and has been around small and large animals since childhood. In addition to small animals he has worked with poultry as well. He has a Master's Degree in Food Safety and Technology.
Dr. Brar has been commended for his outstanding compassionate nature. He is very helpful, kind, knowledgeable and attentive.
Veterinary Medicine runs in the family. His brother is a veterinarian in Canada and his two cousins work as veterinary pharmacists back in India. Dr. Brar has been living in Volo since 2012 with his wife, two kids, and French Bulldog, Trip.
Hi! My name is Samantha. I was born in Barrington, Illinois, but grew up in Jupiter, Florida. I've been a vet tech for almost 3 years now. I am the manager of Gilmer Road Animal Hospital. I'm also a part time student at McHenry County College to get my associates in science, then I plan to transfer to Vet school! I plan to have my DVM by 2021!
Hello! My name is Danielle and I have been with Gilmer Road Animal Hospital since we opened our doors in 2016! I am currently going to College of Lake County to finish my prerequisite classes for Vet School. I grew up in the Chicago area and now currently reside in Lindenhurst. I have a cat named Leo and he is as adventurous as I am! Outside of work I like to hang out with friends, find new adventures, travel, dog siting, and watch netflix.
Tiffany has been a veterinary technician for 6 years. Born and raised in Mchenry, Tiffany currently resides in Island Lake with her husband and two daughters. Coming to work makes her excited to help pets and their owners. With a dog and cat of her own, she understands the love and compassion that pets bring into our lives. Outside of work she loves to be outdoors running, hiking, and walking with her daughters.
Kristen has been with the Gilmer Road family since early 2018. After earning a Bachelor’s degree from UW-Madison and working in advertising for five years, she made a career change, following her passion of working with animals. She is currently enrolled in school to earn her Certified Veterinary Technician degree. Kristen and her husband reside in Wauconda with their dog, Titan. In her free time, Kristen enjoys working with Titan in training classes, studying at coffee shops, or binge-watching Netflix.
Lily joined Gilmer Road Animal Hospital in June 2018. Lily used to live in Israel but she recently moved to the United States with her family. Lily is currently going to College of Lake County for her associates and to finish prerequisite classes for Vet school. Lily loves Harry Potter, sarcasm, and her Belgian Malinois Rumba.
Jasmine is our newest member to our Gilmer Road family. She joined October 2018. She grew up in Lake Zurich and now currently lives in Volo. She has always had a passion for animals since a young age. She worked 2 years at an animal shelter and couldn't see herself doing anything else. She had 2 dogs and a bird that occupy most of her free time. When she isn't spending time with them Jasmine likes to help out at an animal shelter, pain or relax.
Katelyn's love for animals began early in life with horses, and has since then encouraged her to explore other parts of Veterinary Medicine with small animals. In her spare time you will find her hiking with her dogs, or riding her horses. She enjoys working with the Gilmer Road Animal Hospital team and looks forward to advancing her career in both small and large animals.
Marika joined the Gilmer Road family in February 2019. She grew up and lives in Wheeling. She previously worked at an animal hospital as a Dog Day camp counselor and kennel attendant. She grew up with animals. She has 2 doggos, 2 cats, and 2 snakes in her household. In her free time she loves hiking, baking, biking, painting, drawing, playing acoustic guitar, singing, dancing, listening to music, and cuddling with her pets. She is hoping to get her Veterinary Technician Certificate online someday.
Snickers was our house cat when we opened our doors in August 2016. She enjoyed lounging in the sun, taking long cat naps, and helping to monitor our patients. Snickers crossed the rainbow bridge in February 2018 due to squamous cell carcinoma. She is dearly missed.
Is our newest resident cat. He arrived in summer 2017. Murray's favorite hobbies include sleeping in boxes, exploring the hospital, and antagonizing Dr. Brar's French Bulldog.
